December 2010

My first main event of the year was the selection shoot for the Junior European Championships where I was ultimately selected for the European Champs in Germany and also the 1st Leg of the Junior Europa Cup which was to be held in Reggio Calabria, Italy.

A couple of weeks later I shot the WMAS fita star where I shot 1319 on the Metric 1, getting my first 1300 and a new British Record! This has been a goal of mine for a while and it was nice to achieve it early on in the season. Also, later on in the year at the Exmouth Archers Fita Weekend I shot my second 1300 scoring 1310.

I also shot some Gents Fita’s this year for the first time, scoring in the 1220’s for most of them. I think my shooting at 70m improved a lot from shooting 90m as it makes 70m seem so much closer! In June I shot in the UK Masters, scoring a then new P.B of 631 for the 70m ranking round and then coming 3rd after the H2H’s which I was really pleased with! At the AGB Midsummer Tournament I then shot a new P.B of 643 for the 70m ranking round.

At the 1st Leg of the Junior Europa Cup I didn’t shoot brilliantly, I shot OK in the 60m ranking round with 645 but was knocked out in the second round of the H2H’s after winning my first match 4-2. However, I shot much better at the Junior European Championships scoring a P.B of 669 for the Fita 60m ranking round which ranked me in 3rd place for the H2H’s! I then went through my first H2H 4-0 but was knocked out in the second round by the same person who beat me in Italy!

That’s pretty much a roundup of the outdoor season and I promise to blog more regularly next year!
