Jake Bunce a Post 16 student from Downend School has been selected to represent Great Britain at the junior Archery World Championships in Turkey in October. Jake will leave Britain on the fifth of October and compete on the seventh.
Jake aged 16 has been selected for the British Team by an existing member of the squad and by consistently handing in good scores at competitions.
With both of Jakes parents shooting it wasn’t long before Jake followed in their footsteps taking up the sport from a young age. Jake now trains at his local club Cleve at Moorend and practices at every possible opportunity at home in the garden and even in the garage! To compete at this level Jake trains 3 hours per day and all day at the weekends.
This is not the first taste of success for Jake he has already competed in European championships winning two team silvers.
Jake said “I am really looking forward to this tournament as I feel I am shooting at my best and most consistent at present. My dream would be to eventually compete at a semi professional level and continue to represent my country.”
