Team Selection for 2007 |
| At its meeting
of 11 January 2007, the GAS Management Committee
agreed to the arrangements for the Senior
County Team Selection for 2007. It confirmed
that the objectives of the selection shoot
system are: |
| to
be transparent and fair; |
| to
ensure that the Selection Committee has
the maximum amount of information available; |
| to
produce the best team available on the day. |
| The system
endeavours to ensure that those archers
who wish to attend Premier Events and/or
who are selected for International Events
are not penalised. Equally, there is sufficient
flexibility for all archers (including those
who organise tournaments) because scores
from only four out of eight nominated selection
shoots or from a Premier or International
Event held on the same weekend as a nominated
shoot are required. As ever, the system
is constrained by the need to notify GWAS
of the team for the Inter County shoot by
the end of August. |
| Selection
Criteria |
| 1 |
The GAS Senior
County Team will be selected primarily on
the basis of a ranking list produced from
the results of eight selection shoots, with
an archers four best scores to count. |
| 2 |
For 2007, these shoots will be:
Cleve Archers
April York/Hereford
Black & Gold Archers Spring
Shoot
Bowmen of Minchinhamptons June York/Hereford
GWAS Championship Weekend at Dunster
Cheltenham Archers July York/Hereford
Tockington Archers July York/Hereford
Black & Gold Archers August
York/Hereford
The GAS August York/Hereford
|
| 3 |
The organisers
of these selection shoots are requested
to send a copy of the official tournament
results
to the County Records Officer as soon as
possible after the event. The County Records
Officer will
endeavour to maintain a ranking list based
on the results of these shoots. |
| 4 |
In the event
that an archer is unable to attend a County
selection shoot because of shooting at a
nationally organised tournament (such as
the UK Masters), a Premier event or an International
event
(such as Euronations), the archer may submit
the score obtained at such event for consideration.
In
this case, the onus is on the archer to
send the score(s) promptly to the CRO. |
| 5 |
In addition,
any archer who achieves GMB or MB in 2007
before the date of the County
Championships shall be pre-selected. Any
archer claiming pre-selection must notify
the County
Records Officer promptly of this achievement.
In the event that pre-selection produces
more archers
than there are team places available in
any particular discipline, then selection
shall be on the basis
of best handicap. |
| 6 |
In the event
of a tie for a place in the team based on
selection shoot scores, or should there
be
insufficient archers to make up the team
required by GWAS, the Selection Committee
is authorised
to take any necessary decisions. In the
case of the ranking list system failing
to produce enough
archers to fill all the places in the team,
the Committee shall have the discretion
to take into account
scores for those archers who have competed
in less than four selection shoots as well
as scores for
York/Hereford or FITA rounds obtained at
tournaments other than the selection shoots.
The
responsibility for notifying the CRO of
an archers results in these other
tournaments rests solely with
the archer concerned. Scores obtained at
Club target days will not be considered. |
| 7 |
For selection
in 2007, scores submitted by individual
archers must reach the CRO no later than
11
August 2007. |
| 8 |
This system
will not apply to the selection of the team
for the Junior Inter-Counties. Juniors wishing
to be considered for the Senior team should
comply with the above rules. |
